The Great Gatsby

Spiffy 3 Piece Suits, Kanes, Straw Hats, Diamonds, Tassels and Confetti

Today is the day Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby hits cinemas and let me just say I am very excited to see it.

Let's start with the soundtrack- I listened to it the other night and it is the MOST amazingly fun, bright, vibrant and moving soundtrack I have heard in a long time.

It features some of the most talented artists of our time; Gotye, Florence + The Machine- (HER songs are my FAVOURITE and cover me in chills), Beyonce and many others.

If I were you I would hop onto itunes, have a listen and grab a friend or 2 and make a date to see The Great Gatsby.

Much Love

Yes darling, do play with your food.

Hong Yi- also known as "RED" takes playing with your food to a whole new level.
What if this happened every time we let a child play around with their dinner?!
Red decided and vowed to creating an artwork a day, for the month of March using only food.
I laughed out loud in amazement at the talent and brilliance of this women.

Take a look here at my favourite works and take a look here for more of her talent from this project.  AND a HUGE shout out to Anthology Magazine for sharing this beauty!
Thank you very much

Feeling Radishing

Here is what I have been working on. My Radish. I feel like this belongs to little Peter Rabbit.
This actually came about as I stumbled across this little art store//artist hub here in Toronto ARTiculations- they are getting local artists to do a drawing a day for a month and then exhibiting their work books. This has been a life saver to my creativity and has definitely REVIVED my passion and love for drawing.
Ill show you more soon AND i dare you to challenge yourself to this. You may and will be pleasantly surprised.

Spring is on her way

Again I am completely astounded at the elegance, brilliance and truly scrumptious creativity and caliber of people that this magazine attracts and works with.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it astounds you again.

Kinfolk is one of those things that you don't second guess when you find it in a store. Its a necessity. A "must have,' something that you couldn't bare to leave behind.

This volume (Number 7) is an ode to ice-cream. (which for those of you who know me well will know this is one of my most favourite things.)

There is everything from stories of "When we were children", to a couple opening an ice-cream store. Along with sweet recipes and my personal favourite- a photo essay of flowers and ice-cream.

Be sure to get your hands on a copy and happy spring.
Enjoy the crisp air and the warmth from the sun.

AND do tell me...Whats your favourite ice-cream flavour?

Love Elise Maree.

Oz.

The other night when I was out with some of my darling friends to see "Pitch Perfect"- (which by the way is wet your pants funny- A must see) I saw a poster for Disney's "Oz: The Great and Powerful" directed by Sam Raimi- starring James Franco, Milac Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz!
My jaw dropped, I felt like a little girl again. I am so so excited about this.
The Wizard of Oz is my most favourite story of all time, so anything to do with it I love.
I can NOT wait for this to hit theatres- March 8th 2013.
Watch the trailer here.

I'm off to see the Queen

We have a date. Tea and crumpets shall be served promptly at 2pm.
No not really, But I am off to see my best friend Hannah in exactly a week- to spend christmas with her and her family-who is basically my family as well! I am SO EXCITED.
I am packing up my bags and off I shall go.

This will be my third visit to England and I cant wait to explore and have some quality time with a girl who makes my life so much fuller and so much richer.

I am looking forward to jumping on a big red double decker bus, ice-skating, banoffee pie, watching for foxes in her backyard, drinking tea with her Mum and Dad, maybe seeing a play, going to the markets and roaming cobble stone streets.

Be sure to check in for some photos and updates of old london town. Or even if you have any "must do's or see's" let me know!

Sending letters home

It comes but once a year- Yes thats right, you got it-CHRISTMAS.

As you probably have gathered I love writing letters and am a huge believer in snail mail.
So I just wanted to share with you what I had done for my loved ones back in Australia.
I hope that the post man giggles when he comes across these in piles of white and plain envelopes.

Enjoy.

Kinfolk

I just realised I hadn't shared this beauty with you before.
So let me tell you how it all began...

I discovered "Kinfolk"  I believe late last year, actually through instagram- An american girl I follow would always post these romantic morning tea settings with kinfolk accompanied by cups of coffee or would be curled up in bed with this magazine and so I decided to hunt this down and see what the fuss was about.

I eventually found "Kinfolk" in Pulp (Sydney Australia) -actually when I was working there and decided to have a read in a 'down hour'- from there it became my beautiful addiction. That afternoon, I purchased one and decided that this would be my tomorrow morning well spent.

As I read and looked through the pictures, I found myself completely captivated and in awe of these descriptive and enriching stories. All my senses came alive; The Stories of ways of life, thoughtful processes, shared meals, joyous occasions, family traditions, people's meetings and encounters all spoke to my spirit and I felt like I had been revived.

I feel like Kinfolk awakens you and gives you permission to breath, to wander, to think, to love, to create, to enjoy, to ponder, to see, to taste, to smell, to touch and to share.

It is a magazine that teaches you and reminds you of what it means to truly enjoy life.
So do yourself a favour, find a Kinfolk and go to your favourite place and set aside some time to read, soak and enjoy.
